| 2010, Bpitch Control. Seth Troxler has mixed the fifth volume of BPitch Control's Boogybytes series. 2009's #8 DJ in the world according to RA readers, has seen his profile skyrocket since his move to Berlin from his childhood home in Michigan. It's something he's well aware of, and it's led him to pay tribute to the city with his entry into the series, which has formerly featured the likes of Modeselektor and Sascha Funke. "I wanted to do something which would set itself apart from all the trends, and yet paint a picture of this city and portray it the way I experience it," says Troxler of his mix. To do so, he goes from the deep funk of Craig Smith and The Revenge onto the minimal of Alexi Delano and straight through to Wolf + Lamb labelmate Nicolas Jaar over the course of the release's length. The peak, as we're told though, comes with Troxler's own remix of Fever Ray. |

| 2010, Carpark . Last year was full of hype for one-man lo-fi projects (Washed Out, Memory Cassette, and most notoriously, Wavves). That hype is leaking into the new decade with Toro Y Moi, the project of South Carolina's Chaz Bundick. Careful not to keep his head permanently in his clouds, which must be difficult as it sounds so damn lovely and carefree up there, "Causers of This" is a more versatile debut of fantasizing. Making friends with highly coiffured synth-pop, speckles of Jay Dee's slump beats and Andrew Thompson's bold as brass songwriting, it's almost a shame that Bundick so much as thinks about leaving his maternal nook to become more pointed as the album draws to an end. It does show that his flowered up status is capable of shapeshifting, adding a drop of gumption to his enigmatic wanders. A wonderfully warming piece of Electronica. Chillwave, Electro lo-fi, Indie |

Jocul sortii, capriciile destinului si ghidusia karmei au decis: cadoul propus de Serban Alexandrescu a fost castigat de tanarul nostru coleg Iulian Fecioru, un fecior modest, din Galati, recent disponibilizat de la Combinat si viitor impozitat pe drepturi de autor. Premiul, se pare, e cel mai consistent din toata tombola: un autoturism Tico produs de firma Daewoo din exotica Coree. Spicuim din dotari, asa cum reies ele din editorialul foto alaturat, pictorial-cum ne place noua, profesionistilor, sa-i spunem: vestitele jante Radial-China-asigura o tractiune de invidiat chiar si in anotimpul rece, tapiserie interna tip fantesie, faruri Insomnia-asigura iluminarea pe timp de noapte, volan casual cu doua spitie-belea!, porbagaj cu un capac roata de rezerva- o minune. E, inchipuiti-va acum ce-a fost in sufletelul bietului nostru coleg la aflarea vestii! Dar bucuria i-a fost de scurta durata: venit la sediul organizatorilor sa-si ridice premiul, a fost intampinat cu ostilitate, ba mai mult, Dl. Alexandrescu n-a vrut sa-i dea talonul si RCA-ul pe motiv ca s-a sucit si e prea atasat de automobil si ca asta e. Tanarul de pe malurile Dunarii nu s-a lasat impresionat cu una cu doua si a invocat amenintarea cu mersul la OTV-televiziunea poporului, locul in care oamenii opresati isi gasesc dreptatea. Vazand ca se ingroasa gluma, organizatorii s-au vazut sliti sa-si onoreze promisiunea cedand masina, dar nu inainte de a profera cateva vorbe murdare, un sut in aripa dreapta fata si o grupare de flegme pe luneta. Deci, atentie de-acum incolo la asa zisele tombole, mai ales la cele cu premii in autoturisme! |

gucci e un rising rapper star din atlanta cu o imaginatie comparabila cu a lui adi de vito in alegerea nickname-ului. bad boy fiind, acum e bine pus deoparte dupa gratii. cert e ca, beneficiind de negativele unor producatori cu ceva talent, gucci a intrat in gratiile mai multor muzicieni din lumea buna, de unde si aceasta compilatie excelenta de remixuri coordonata de diplo si avandu-i in lista pe zomby, flying lotus, memory tapes, salem si altii. pana la urma, nici gucci nu le spune prea rau. free download here.
