E luni, e-luni! Din seria prietenilor nostri e-friends, il avem astazi pe maestrul web zorzini. Sa-l ascultam!
Chiar daca putin cam tarziu, s-ar putea ca televiziunile romanesti sa faca in sfarsit pauza din grohaielile gen Schimb de Mame sau Curat / Murdar si sa propuna ceva cu adevarat funny.
Si - dupa cum stiu toti navigatorii seriosi - mama show-urilor TV amuzante e Japonia, singurul loc de pe planeta in care daca tipii care din scaunele de masaj ale unei saune sunt aruncati in fundul gol pe partia de ski nu dau pe nimeni in judecata, ba chiar se distreaza.
Deci a venit momentul sa importam un show made in Japan, chiar Silent Library, in care gasca de participanti incearca sa nu faca galagie intr-o biblioteca publica, in timp ce sunt supusi celor mai cretine probe (culminand cu un mos care isi scoate proteza si il musca pe concurent de lobul urechii). Formatul va rula in curand la B1 sub numele de Popa Prostu si ori va fi prima chestie amuzanta de la televizor in afara de OTV, ori concurentii, in loc sa arate a personaje dubioase, speriate si amuzante vor arata ca niste neispraviti (ca in cazul recentului I Survived A Japanese Game Show din State). Le tin pumnii si sper din tot sufletul sa nu iasa ceva lame :)

"Ever since Brian Eno aligned his epochal album Discreet Music with Erik Satie's call for music that could "mingle with the sound of knives and forks at dinner", ambient music hasn't worried much about change. Eno's rhetorical sally dates back to 1975, and the story since... well, it's not much of a story in and of itself. What has been a story, as the music has bedded down with softness and nuance, is how the "ambient" enterprise has come to color everything else around it". (click photo) During Innervisions' first visit to Japan they came up with the idea for this ambient project. They remember going out of the hotel on the first day in Tokyo thinking that something is different here, there are many people and a lot of cars on the street but it is still quiet so you automatically calm down, we were muting the noise for ourselves. In the beginning of the 1990s it was normal to have had an ambient floor on every bigger techno or houseparty. This culture got lost in the new millenium and became a niche and went more into the cultural activities. | 2008, Planet Mu. Venetian Snares have kept the junglist faith for the last decade and continue to push the envelope even weirder, chopping the breaks up so fiercely the only (ir)rational response is a an all-consuming hysteria, hitting a feedback loop where your reality check begins to check out, and rave becomes raving mad. Detrimentalist! is certainly every bit as crazy as the title suggests, but crucially, producer Aaron "Funk" Von Snares (apparently his real name, but who knows) has a connoisseur's touch in distinguishing the much-sought-after nuttiness from simple, everyday cheese. The album borrows mainly from the stark palette of ragga jungle, but spunks its soundboy samples across the stereo spectrum with the verve of Jackson Pollock. Aaron describes the forthcoming mayhem as his "332nd official studio album of disgusting ejacutronic rave horn... fresh off the bakery truck to pluck out your brain cells and replace them with inescapable k-hole oblivion!". On his myspace blog, Aaron emphasizes that Dentrimentalist is a "roots record" to him - the Canadian producer returns to the sweet, tender days of jungle's youth, "before they took out all the good bits between the kicks and the snares". Living up to his name, the new LP features, "more and more snares between the snares from Snares," and, "bass that makes your colon drop like you grew a new nut out your ass!" (What a charmer!). La ora 5 dimineata ai de ales intre Ricardo Villalobos (CL), Oscar Mulero (ES) - riot techno si Efdemin + Pantha du Prince (DE) minimal techno pentru trubaduri. Bineinteles ca am terminat Sonarul cu Efdemin (la recomandarea tfe-ului) si cred ca am facut cea mai buna alegere. Un set numai bun sa plangi ca s-a terminat festivalul.
A fost cel mai frumos festival la care am luat parte. Organizarea, oamenii, atmosfera dar mai ales muzica fac din Sonar un adevarat Mecca al muzicii electronice contemporane. NU RATATI!!!

| Plecat dupa provizii de la petrecerea ed banger, dau in Sonar Club unde Mike "Mad" Banks si Jeff Mills, tatici ai techno-ului si Underground Resistance godfathers faceau un ping pong intre abstract, IDM, noise VS. detroit millsillian techno. Aici am ramas lipit de boxe si cu privirea atintita spre Saturn. Nici nu ma asteptam sa prind asa ceva. Impresionant!!! Jeff Mills invartind zeci de butoane, cu fata spre Saturn, facand cu ochiul lui Mad Mike sa bage zumzetul ambiental de la alte zeci de butoane. Cred ca asa ceva nu avem cum sa vedem in Romania, like never. |

Antipop Consortium (US) - hip-hop new-yorkez; invalmaseala pe scena, nshpe MC plus 2 DJ vorbind pe rand. Nimic rau in asta.:) Miss Kittin - "Hai de aici, te rog. EU ma duc. Mai stau putin, nu suna rau. CHiar si asa, eu ma duc". Soulwax - mai energici si mai fresh ca niciodata. Numai bun de incalzire. Fuga, fuga la ed banger sa-i vedem pe Busy P, Nil, Krazy Baldhead si Sebastian. Am inteles de ce au fost alesi the party crashers of 2007, funky breaks, deep soul house, groovy beats si old skul melodramatic disco totul invelit intr-un aer fresh de electro pur frantzuzesc. Mai sus cu un slagar de 20 de secunde.
P.S. nu am spus nimic de sambata dimineata, pentru ca s-a intamplat doar The Field, happy live techno de dansat cu berea-n mana, unul din cele mai frumoase gig-uri ale festivalului. Somnul m-a furat, Matmos am pierdut. Ghinion. |

Este foarte greu la un asemenea festival sa-i poti vedea pe toti si chiar sa intelegi ceva. De aceea a trebuit sa renunt la multi artisti, in favoarea surprizelor de moment.
Am ajuns exact la Madness, unde am fost abandonat sa retraiesc videoclipurile tineretii mtviste. Au cantat cam la fel, doar mai slow. :) Mary Anne Hobbs - dubstep de cea mai buna calitate din UK si Diplo (US) care probabil a fost luat de valul multimii si a tinut beat-ul foarte sus, cu scurte interventii de hip-hop si dubstep (ca e la moda), in loc sa mixeze in stilul sau caracteristic. Justice a fost pe reteta Daft Punk. Cam cum e pe album, cu mici diferente la trecerea dintre piese. :) Dar violenta muzicala si show-ul lor te fac sa dansezi. Si ca sa ramai in aceeasi nota, Boys Noize (DE) te duc si mai sus de Justice, cu un happy electro numai bun de adus in Romania. Am trecut scurt si pe la Flying Lotus, dar nu am avut multa rabdare.
Dimineata am ajuns la Sonar Pub unde am ramas cu Richie Hawtin si gasca lui: Magda, Troy Pierce, Marc Houle, Gaiser, Heartthrob in Minus presenta Contakt

Quite Village (UK) - la rugamintea asiei am trecut si pe aici. Downbeat electronica in Sonar Village. M-a surprins numarul fanilor.
Fuga la cortul Dome sa vedem Ninja Tune. Daedelus cu nevasta, DJ Mountain si un violonist in Ninja Tune & Counter Records presenta electro-acoustic romantic.
De fapt, cireasa de pe tort era Deepchord presents Echospace, aparitie trecuta si prin redactie.
N.B. calitate din ce in ce mai proasta. Am ramas fara baterie si suntem pe back-up. |

Nu pot decat sa fiu pe fuga. Nu am timp de pierdut in fata monitorului, sunt prea multe de facut.
Dupa vizitele arhelogice si arhitectonice, ieri s-a dut drumul la iungla. Haos, richie hawtin isi leaga bicicleta de un stalp, sasha funke bea o bere la terasa; multi spanioli in prima zi care nu suna rau, dar parca e prea cald, asa ca ma refugiez la scena de la subsol.
Pram (UK) - experimental, alternative, progressive rock sa-i zicem, dar mai mult sintetizatoare la maxim cu zdranga din chitara. Am prins spre sfarsit. |

Originally released in 1978, Black Devil's "Disco Club" is an extremely rare disco masterpiece, an epic journey into the deepest electronic disco. The record is credited to Joachim Sherylee and Junior Claristidge, pseudonyms of two french library writers Bernard Fevre and Jacky Giordano. It was made manually in a recording studio in the suburbs of Paris using synths and occasional tape loops and a drummer. No midi or computers. According to an interview given by Bernard Fevre in January 2007, Jacky Giordano only financed the recording sessions. in aceasta calma zi pre-meci, il avem ca guest star pe prompter-ul nostru pe music critic-ul domn rekabu si ale sale consideratii despre psihologia unui anume tip de fan. let's boogie!
"n-am intalnit vreodata un individ care sa spuna: "bai, sunt fan coldplay". ok, vremea fanatismelor muzicale veritabile si cumva cretine a murit o data cu ultimul tricou imprimat cu figura dezabuzata a lui cobain sau cu desenele pueril-horroriste ale lui eddie the head, chiar daca astazi poti gasi, pe treptele de la national, ceva pustani dispusi sa doneze o picatura de sange innegrit cu mascara intru gloria eterna a binomului pete wentz - patrick stump. in conditiile in care albumele englezilor se vand mai bine decat croissantele cu abtibilduri naruto, e lucru ciudat sa nu te intalnesti, macar o data in viata, cu oameni care sa-si afirme erect si onest pasiunea pentru band-ul domnului martin. chestia asta ma face sa cred ca 1. dragostea de coldplay e recluziva si dubioasa, 2. dragostea de coldplay nu exista, 3. dragostea de coldplay exista, dar nu aici, 4. dragostea de coldplay traieste in spatele unui paralizant sentiment de vinovatie. as miza mai degraba pe ultima presupunere, desi habar n-am cate albume coldplay se vand in ro. dar nu vad de ce n-ar exista, pe-aici pe undeva, fancluburi conspirative, atata vreme cat muzica facuta de britanici e perfect taiata (chiar daca pe stil nou de brian eno) pentru urechile, inimile si sufletele celor carora le vedeam candva privirile impaienjenite pe, o, daaa!, "supergirl". | 2008, Domino. The title of 'Knowle West Boy' relates to the area of Bristol where Tricky grew up and was self-produced with Switch (MIA/Santogold producer) on additional production and mixing duties. The album sums up everything that Tricky has accomplished since his 1995 Maxinquaye debut and it's an intriguing album, fusing elements of post punk, reggae and hip hop to create a very Bristolian mix, although without any of the other-wordly brilliance of his best moments. | 2008, Warp. Steven Ellison is the great nephew of Alice Coltrane and a leading purveyor of the stumbling drum shuttles that are infiltrating a high percentage of hip hop music lately. He's become renowned for his prolific knack of knocking out beats that rappers wish they could be on and producer's wish they could get close to constructing. Stripping his output down to jarring loops, atmospherics and drums he creates this tribal, pagan drive that engulfs each track making their rhythmic shunts incredibly hard to withstand. Rolling out more like a beat tape than a singles based album everything flows gently into each other seasoning up Ellison's trademark sound with salty bass barrages and coarse snares that hit just after (or before) they should. Suffice to say quantization is a concept Flying Lotus seems to willfully disregard but it's this apathy for regular, metronome anchored drum patterns that gives his songs the enduringly noddable groove they induce so regularly; it's as if by being a little sloppy on the snares it gives him this gaudy ability to make your neck work overtime. | 2008, Kompakt. There's no overstating Cologne artist Wolfgang Voigt's influence on electronic music. His Mike Ink and Studio 1 releases helped shape minimal techno, while his Gas project laid the groundwork for abstract dub techno. Voigt also launched Profan and is an owner of Kompakt. Originally released by the now defunct Mille Plateaux label, the four Gas releases - Gas, Zauberberg, Konigsforst, and Pop - have been long out-of-print and much sought-after. But at long last Voigt has reissued all four Gas discs, collecting them in a box set Nah und Fern (Near and Far) on Kompakt. The fundamental sounds of Gas are all taken from old records, but Voigt chops, loops, reverses, and decontextualizes them almost beyond recognition. In an interview with The Wire, Voigt explained that his goal was to evaporate the samples of their original meaning and context. E de-ajuns să asculţi o dată albumul de debut al lui Matthew Cooper (aka Eluvium), Lambent Material, şi n-o să poţi să nu zâmbeşti la potrivirea perfectă a numelui. Sună oarecum cu rezonanţa ecoului unui concert Sonic Youth, după ce s-au oprit din cântat şi toată lumea a plecat acasă. | 2005, Compost. Felix describes it as his first 'true album', where he feels the music represents his vision alone. The result is a truly beautiful electronica album, mixed and arranged with absolute genius - each track has distinct character, never slipping into the wallpaper monotony of current lounge fodder. Originally hailing from Pietermaritzburg (wedged somewhere in the pastoral, rolling green hills of Kwazulu natal), Felix experimented with punk bands and computer animation before discovering PC based music, moving to Cape Town, and releasing 'Thin Shoes in June' on African Dope in 2001. The success of the album's uniquely whimsical atmospheric chillbeat style catapulted Felix into the music limelight, and he has rapidly become South Africa's premier electronic musician. Felix explains, "I think it could be called downbeat, emotive electronica. The whole album has been a gradual process. I'm into so much stuff and I always get quite influenced by what I'm listening to, but that changes every few months. This album has been quite a journey. When I first started I was into a lot of world music and trip-hoppy stuff like Kid Loco. More recently I've been getting into electronic stuff, but at the same time I'm really into classical music. I don't really listen to one specific genre of music at all. This album is just a reflection of all sorts of ideas that I've got." Deci un debut în regie de lung-metraj [Anca Damian cu Întâlniri încrucişate, cinema Victoria, orele 15.00, cam straniu şi inegal], un documentar terifiant de plictistor [Nisipuri], debutul în lung metraj al unui frate de peste Prut [Igor Cobileanski, da, exact tipul cu becurile, care tot de comedie neagră se ocupă, la cinema victoria orele 12.00]. Pentru cei mai nostalgici Cuibul de viespi [Cinema Arta, orele 18.00] unul dintre foarte puţinele lucruri amuzante legate de România deceniului opt.

| 2002, Mille Plateaux label. Mike Martinez aka Electric Birds has co-owned and operated the Deluxe record label since 1995. From his roots playing various instruments in various bands throughout the '90s, Mike's interest in electronic music soon took over, influenced by the sounds of such labels as Warp, Chain Reaction, Minus and Mille Plateaux. This is a richly textured collection of tracks: spacious atmospheres that manage to flow between glitched-up clicks to more traditional electronic conceits, often employing dense melodies to reach their end. The ambient soundscapes explore a diverse array of tiny yet remarkably melodic sounds. Martinez stripped the sound of its overt emotional or topographical components and left the stuttering, repeated elements to intersect with the background washes and glitches in a soundscape that at times approaches a self-referentiality. The problem of the increasing self-referential nature of 'post-electronic' music - or whatever you want to call everything coming out right now that is glitched, clicked, and cut, often with acoustic sources - is that it approaches an obscurity: it either only speaks to the connoisseur of the genre who can recognize the points of departure, or speaks only to the artist creating it. When a referential album is expanded to incorporate elements of pop culture, the referential circle breaks its loop-point; however, when it closes the cut too closely, it risks at one and the same time a new sound and yet a sound that also fails to resound within a listener's attention, requiring a deeply meditative space of listening, or indeed even pushing the work into the background of our listening experience. | 2008, Global Underground label. Rogue Audio aka Cass (:"It's really come together over a long gestation period, with me intentionally absorbing as many influences over time as possible. I constantly saved little sounds, samples, noises, cinematic references, anything I thought was interesting, and then used them as a palette for the tracks on the album whenever I had the chance to work on it".), is one half of the infamous Deadset, and has been a much-vaunted provider of fantastically cerebral dance-floor fare for the most part of a decade. 'Haphazard' is a seventeen-tracker put together by Cass and electro-breaks engineer Vandal aka Sam Evans. The album which ranges from ambient electronica and techno to vocal breakbeat also includes collabs with Aidan Lavelle, Salmonella Dub's MC Rizla and members of Australian electronica trio Infusion. | 2008, Line label. This magnificent collaborative album from two of the key minimalist composers of their generation originally crept out in 2004 as one of the very earliest releases on the Spekk label. The album now sees a significant overhaul for its reissue, with an extra two pieces thrown into the bargain plus a remastering job courtesy of Taylor Deupree. Listening to these contemplative pieces while meditating on the artwork is suggestive. A Rothovian affair of smudged browns from Chartier's own hand, no add-on afterthought, the cover image, with its Rothko allusion. It serves as visual metaphor/analogy for the B+C sound. The method used by Rothko for his multiforms was to apply a thin layer of binder mixed with colour pigment directly onto uncoated and untreated canvas, then paint thinned oils directly onto this overlay, resulting in a dense mélange of merging tonalities and emergent shapes. With no figurative representation, the devil, and with it the micro-drama, is in the detail, in the contrast of tones/colours, and their movement against one another. The communion of B + C emerges as a felicitous one. B, known for pulling out fragments of heartstring-tug big notes and simple hyper-expressive motifs and looping them on and on so as to transcend mere repetition-nonsense to become quasi-liturgy. C, on the other hand, famed for poking his microscope into those atoms of sound and opening up to wonderment all the protons and neutrons and all the bits and splits below only physicists know. And, it could be said, that here two heads better each one. For in combination, the two act as foils to mutual foibles - Fanciful B and Fastidious C. Episodul 3 din seria friend of e-friends il are ca invitat pe vaca eclectica:
"Ingrediente:
500 g ciuperci,
1 cubulet de unt (15 g)
1 ceapa medie
1 catel de usturoi
2 linguri rase amidon
600 ml supa
piper, cimbru
1 lingura de patrunjel taiat marunt (optional)
Mod de preparare: 1. Se taie cubulete ceapa si telina. Intr-o oala de 3 l se topeste untul la foc mediu si se adauga ceapa si putina apa. Se caleste 10 minute amestecand din cand in cand, pana ceapa devine translucida. Se adauga ciupercile taiate felii si jumatate din supa. Se lasa sa fiarba la foc mediu circa 30 de minute. 2. Se dizolva amidonul cu cateva linguri de supa si se adauga in oala. Se pune cimbrul si restul de supa. Se mai lasa sa fiarba 5 minute pana se ingroase putin. Se potriveste de sare si piper. 3. Se lasa sa se raceasca putin apoi se pune in blender si se face crema. Daca este prea groasa se mai adauga supa sau lapte. Se serveste calda, eventual ornata cu patrunjel.
Sugestii: Se poate manca cu succes la diete datorita continutului scazut de calorii.

Cel de-al 3-lea album Ratatat apare oficial pe 3 iulie. Primul single e 'Shiller'. Pe B-side apare trackul 'Mahalo', care promoveaza deja al 4-lea album. Videoclipul aparut simultan e pentru 'Mirando' - pop instrumental sacadat si armonizat cu chitara, ilustrat cu Predator-ul lui Schwarzenegger transformat in coregrafie de pirotehnice, corpuri aeropurtate si siluete urmarite prin night vision". |

"Da,ieri a fost haos mare: film indian extrem de over the top, dansuri prin Avenue si plimbari haotizate pe strazi. Azi ruleaza:
1. Slinghot Hip-Hop [cinema Victoria, orele 14.30]. Documentar despre hip-hop-ul palestinian. Care exista si care suna bine. Asezonat cu un back-ground foarte informativ despre situatia deloc placuta a palestinienilor, segregati in doua enclave si cu mari restrictii de calatorie. Nu-i deloc nepotrivit sa ne aducem aminte ca inainte de gagicile mele cu fundu mare, diamantele mele, masinile mele, hip-hopul a fost muzica de protest.

"Tiff ziua 2
Este ca la ștrand aici la Cluj. Lucru benefic și pentru cinema-urile în aer liber [wow, am vazut destule lucruri gonflabile la viața mea, dar mă jur că nu credeam că există și ecrane de cinema gonflabile] și pentru localnicele nerăbdătoare să exhibe camel-toe-uri [care sunt numeric vorbind o minoritate, dar este vizual reconfortant că există].
Pentru că sunt pe fugă [nu după camel-toe, ci spre somn] cele ce urmează vor fi gen telegrafiate
1. cafea&alcooluri a se servi de preferință la coffice [nume straniu și local central cu canapele verzi]
2. unul [dintre cele 7 spoturi TIFF de anul acesta]: Caranfil, Nae Caranfil. Sec genial și personal.
3. doua grupaje de Umbre [scurt-metraje horror-ifice] la cinema Victoria. De la 10.00, respectiv 14.30
4. filmul zilei: Cargo 200 [ aka Gruz 200, în aer liber la Echinox, orele 21.30]hardcorism rusesc fără mațe și torturi, dar cu cadavre, violuri și dragoste. Tratat despre descompunerea morală și psihică a rușilor de pe finalul erei sovietice. Atroce, nemilos, abject nihilist și IMPECABIL. Genul de film care te lasă năucit și abuzat, cu o poftă nebună de votcă și țigară.
5. Heima, care e mai degrabă must see pentru fanii Sigur Ros. Documentar despre un turneu al freakshilor islandezi.
Tiff - ziua 3
Duminică fiind, este ziua copilului. Bravo lor. Nu mă pot abține să mă întreb cum se celebra evenimentul într-un anume subsol austriac. Lasînd glumele la o parte TIFF-ul a pompat majoritatea documentarelor pe teme muzicale în aceasta zi. Deci la cinema Arta, cu incepere de la orele zece juma aveți de unde alege: Patti Smith, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, un documentar de/cu/despre Neil Young și muzica protestatară, câte ceva despre Drahdiwaberl, trupa de rock anarhic cu care a debutat în muzică Falco, Joe Strummer portretizat și povestit de alde Bono și Brigitte Bardot. În inchidere Lou Reed și Berlinul lui.
De neratat [și neuitat] ar fi La zona [cinema Victoria, orele 19.30] distopie contemporană, nu chiar ipotetică și totalmente nihilistă despre malformațiunile și malfuncționările capitalismului democratic. La zona este povestea unor onorabili cetățeni care duhnesc de bani și a căror dolce vita formatată și sigură din interiorul unui paradis rezidențial artificial este dată peste cap odată cu intrarea în perimetrul lor fortificat a unei echipe de trei găinari mărunți. Probleme încep doar atunci când, după ce I-au executat pe doi dintre intruși, poliția începe să își bage nasul în treburile lor cu aroma de neo-nazism paranoic. Sumbru și eficient.
La Drive In [Iulius Mall, 22.00] se poate viziona din mașina proprie filmul premiat cu ursul de aur la Berlinala de anul acesta: Tropa de Elite. Din aceeași locație [favele de lângă Rio de Janeiro] și cu aceeași temă [foarte multă violență] ca și Ciudade do Deus. Diferențele ar fi, cel puțin în opinia mea proprie și personală în favoarea orașului. Tropa de Elite este violent și absurd. Cu parti-pris nu tot timpul digerabil narator este nimeni altul decât șeful trupelor para-militare- și cu o imagine realistă nesclipitoare, care totuși sunt contra-balansate de suspans și de lumea fascinantă a periferiilor violent, trupa este un film care se merită văzut".
