| "Ross Birchard first made his name as turntablist DJ Itchy who, aged just 15, battled his way to become the UK's youngest ever DMC finalist. | 2009, Project Mooncircle. Smoothness Extract (Deep Night At Ishigaki) is Lambent's third full-length album, and his first on the Project Mooncircle label. Whilst his earlier work was rooted in Ambient and Electronic music, this record presents his sound in the context of Instrumental Hip Hop, with strong elements of Electronic music still present. You could group this record with the recent wave of Dilla inspired Hip Hop, but equally you could group it with Autechre when they're at 90 BPM. The record came about after Project Mooncircle heard some of Lambent's tracks and fell in love with the calmer and smoother pieces of his often intense sound. 2009, Warp. To commemorate its 20th anniversary celebrations, Warp Records presents Warp20: the box set comes with two double-CD sets, one single CD, a triple 10", and a double 10". Complicated! The Warp20 (Chosen) double CD serves as a sort of best-of for the label, with one CD chosen by online voting and another handpicked by Warp co-founder Steve Beckett. (Beckett, I'm happy to report, shows "Bucephalus Bouncing Ball" some love.) The other double-CD, Warp20 (Recreated), consists of Warp artists covering other Warp artists. So we get Jamie Lidell doing Grizzly Bear, Bibio doing Boards of Canada, and Born Ruffians having their way with Aphex Twin, among others. As for the other stuff, there's Warp20 (Elemental), a single-CD continuous mix of Warp tracks, specifically commissioned for this box, from mashup maestro Osymyso. | 2009, Atlantic. Apparently The Garden, the exquisite, Grammy-nominated gem cultivated by chill-ectronic duo Henry Binns and Sam Hardaker in 2006, marked the end of Zero 7 as we know it. The proof's in the rather drab pudding Yeah Ghost, an inconsistent amalgam of forgettable material quite unrepresentative of the pair's abilities. By aiming to move into more uptempo dance territory, this album is evidently perkier and more upbeat than its predecessors, a welcome change for a band who were increasingly pigeon-holed. While you could pick a far worse soundtrack to chill out to than this, Yeah Ghost is not the visionary epic fans will have been holding out for and is far from being the progressive leap one suspects Zero 7 would like it to be either. 2009, Modern Love. Demdike Stare is the new project from MLZ on Pendle Coven/Modern Love fame and Canty from Finders Keepers. The tracks on 'Symbiosis' are drawn from elements of Turkish, Indian, Iranian, African and West Indian film soundtracks alongside Norwegian drone records, classic House templates, punctured dub, modified techno and the arctic noise perfected by Mika Vainio. Original sources and dense analogue experiments weave around eachother with little care for convention or stylistic expectation, instead throwing the pair's extensive musical knowledge into a set of tracks that, quite brilliantly, defy categorisation. ‘Suspicious Drone', is a dense 6 minute pulse that chugs a long like a malfunctioning mechanical beast, honing in on Lancashire's dark industrial landscape before moving onto more exotic, balmy territory. | 2009, hellosQuare Recordings. The duo of Adrian Klumpes and Shoeb Ahmad both from Australia, have at various occasions come together to record some music which is now presented under the moniker Klumpes Ahmad and with album title In Bed We Trust.
Adrian Klumpes used to be member Triosk, a jazz trio who also played with Jan Jelinek, Shoeb Ahmad is a member of Spartak and runs the hellosQuare label.
The 10 edited improvisations we find on In Bed We Trust are a combination of Ahmad’s guitar play and Klumpes’ piano play. These instruments have been processed with computers, effects and tapes. The result of this are 10 pieces that laver between ambient, modern classical, jazz and micro music. Klumpes & Ahmad really know how to work on the details in this music. The combination they bring here works really well. Where the piano is always quiet and relaxing, the guitar adds dirt to the pieces. | 2009, Nonresponse. The New Jersey-based duo of Clay Emerson and Ian Pullman have been recording as Loess for nearly a decade now. Burrows is one of those mop-up releases that gathers together some remixes and hard-to-find cuts together with a mini album’s worth of previously unreleased material. The compilation summarizes the past eight years of the loess sound (2000-2008). This collection includes Loess' reworkings of original tracks by Gridlock, Tobias Lilja, and Quench among others along with other original Loess tracks previously only available on vinyl. Am in minte imaginea difuza a nenumarati interlocutori care, in mijlocul unei conversatii pe tema America, livreaza devastator argumentul ultim - "americanii: un popor de idioti".
Si, fara sa verbalizeze, lasa sa pluteasca, in suspensie si in contrapartida, celalalt argument suprem - "desteptaciunea romaneasca, scoala care se face la noi" etc.
